In April 2024, Mission Critical Systems and Technology Architects merged to expand technical capabilities, service capacity, purchasing power, and geographic reach. Nathan Hanley serves as the Director of Technology at Technology Architects, where he leads the design and execution of innovative IT solutions that empower clients to operate securely and efficiently. A U.S. military veteran, Nathan brings the discipline, leadership, and mission-focused mindset he developed during his service into every aspect of his work. With expertise in IT infrastructure, systems architecture, and emerging technologies, he ensures that all solutions are robust, secure, and aligned with business objectives. Nathan is known for his strategic vision, technical acumen, and dedication to operational excellence.
In his free time Nathan can be found spending time with his family, enjoying a game of cards or smoking meat.
Ryan leads Technology Architects’ cybersecurity program, building it to protect our clients from the ever-growing threats present in our modern world. Ryan has been working in IT since 1997, and refined his focus to cybersecurity in 2015. Since then, he’s obtained multiple certifications, helped improve the cybersecurity posture of many clients, championed internal cyber security policy, and built a cybersecurity team that has prevented and defended against hundreds of attacks on our clients. When not engaged in cybersecurity work, Ryan likes to paddle his outrigger canoe around the many lakes of Minnesota.
Gene Smith has been in the IT Services space for the past 30 years. He has played a number of roles in the helping companies better manage IT and how to get the most out of their investment. He was a founding partner of Mission Critical Systems in 2003 and has now taken on a new role as general manager for Technology Architects.
Gene’s primary goals are to help businesses get the most value and productivity from their investment, and to continually look for ways to automate and streamline the process of IT service delivery. In his free time Gene can be found on the pickleball court or the golf course and enjoys spending time with his family in the mountains.
Margaret Winkelman currently serves as the Director of Operations and is based out of the Green Bay office. With more than 14 years of experience with Technology Architects, she has involvement in a variety of aspects of the business but specializes in purchasing, contracts, vendor relations and customer service. She enjoys working with both vendors and customers to ensure understanding of products and services offered.
Margaret graduated from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse with a Bachelor of Science degree. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, volunteering, hiking, trying new restaurants and attending musical theatre productions.
